尝读《全唐诗》，载有《观邻人演昭君变》一首。《昭君变》者，当时剧名也。使逊清同、光以来诗人，执笔为之，必什九不敢用“昭君变”三字。观于《范伯子诗集》，偶涉及电报，辄以“电语”二字代之，特电话及有声电影犹未传播中国也。若在今日，直不知电话之类当作何语矣。揣其意，殆以电报二字非古，易以电语，则典雅近古。抑知“杂报”、“邸报”，皆古人所常用之语，仅更一字，即期期以为不可，毋乃泥古！
