How is this different from Duolingo?+
Duolingo gives you sentences a machine made up. We give you sentences Sōseki wrote. The reading is the practice — you're not earning XP for matching pictures, you're finishing a book that existed before you were born.

Can I switch between languages?+
Pro unlocks all 5 languages (Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, French, English). Switch anytime, keep your progress.
Where does the dictionary come from?+
Offline EDRDG (Japanese), CC-CEDICT (Chinese), and open-source Spanish/French/English lexicons. 215,000+ entries total, deinflection-aware, runs locally.
Does this work offline?+
On the iOS app, yes — once a book is downloaded, the reader, dictionary, and lookup all work offline. The web app needs a connection for the library and AI features.
I already pay for the iOS app — do I pay twice?+
Web and iOS subscriptions are separate today. We're working on a unified entitlement — stay tuned, and email support if you want it backdated.
How do I cancel?+
Account → Billing → Cancel. Takes effect at the end of the billing period. No retention dark patterns.
