五幕话剧。老舍编剧。北京晨光出版公司1950年11月出版。剧本采用新旧社会的对比手法来描写北京一群说唱艺人在不同时代的不同命运。抗战胜利以后，鼓书艺人破风筝与养女方珍珠从内地回到北平。在国民党反动统治下受到了种种迫害。富商、特务要抢方珍珠为妾，军警、流氓不断上门骚扰，弄得他们无法谋生。北平解放以后，艺人获得新生。他们成了国家的主人，开始组织起来，经常到工厂、农村为群众演出，到处受到欢迎。方珍珠也进学校读书，实现了她多年的夙愿。剧本塑造了两代艺人的生动形象，表现了方珍珠一家在新旧社会的不同境遇。此剧对于艺人在旧社会受到迫害反映相当深刻，是老舍建国以后话剧创作的起点。
