在北方做官，得意时，一要会弄钱，二要会谄媚；失意时，一要会装病，二要会送家眷装要下台。
能弄钱，不但军阀欢喜，便外人也要称赞！因弄钱非卖国不可，自然收买旧货的人要赞美了。会谄媚不但军阀高兴，便是军阀左右人物以及其妾都高兴，因为谄媚必先从军阀妻妾或幸人入手。 至于装病，送家眷，虽为撒娇之作用，但不先会弄钱或谄媚，撒娇便要失败的。
