有致慨于今日忙“选举”者每借助于金钱与酒食，以为非有道之象。
某小学家然笑曰：“君等自不读书故也，庸知‘选’、‘举’之本义，即为金钱与酒食乎？不信，翻书为证。”
选，与锾通，货贝名也，古所谓金钱万选者是。
举，盛宴也，《周礼》“王月一举”，即指杀牲作馔。
“选”、“举”两字之娘家在是，然则彼日以金钱、酒食忙选举者，可谓善读古人书也已。
