贽向在京师，偶得《西湖百咏》七言律诗一册，共百首。盖宋季杭人董嗣杲所赋者。天顺己卯秋，贽以太常少卿，蒙赐老东归。于舟中无事，因取而备阅。依韵和之，亦得百首。然其中所可知者，不过南北高峰、三竺、灵隐、净慈、六桥、孤山、保叔、岳祠、龙井、玉泉诸处之显然者。其他不能识其在何处者，甚多也。尝访于杭城之长老，亦多不能详。盖自宋迄元，以至于今二三百年间，荒圮不存者，夥矣。宜乎知之者，鲜也。比因质问于致政广西方伯夏公以正，且以所和鄙作求是正焉。公曰：“吾于十分中颇能识其八九。兹不能备谈，笔之于纸，莫可得而详也。”
