湖景丽于昼，湖情暇于夜。主一舟焉，以司昼夜之长。晴开雨泊，傍树依云，栩栩然也。虽然，犹未也。神飘忽而无所着，其为游也，不静矣。于是舍舟而僦居。半在山，而半在水。背高而凭流，浣以红，而沃以青。眠食于其间，徘徊于其上。极朝昏之变态，看烟云之吐吞。其于湖也，亦非泛泛焉者矣！虽然，亦未也。湖之境有，未历湖之情，终未周也。
