记述中国元明两代北洋海运的重要著作。作者不传。从正文记叙风格的粗犷和具体来推断,本书应为富有航海经验的民间船工所述,后由文人记录整理而成。据《筹海图编》夹注,本书最早为明人张一厚所辑。其传世版本有《金声玉振集》本、《四库全书》本、《借月山房汇钞》本和《丛书集成》本等。本书1卷,附录1卷,为嘉靖中袁褧收《海道经》入编《金声玉振集》时所录,内容记述了自江浙到辽宁沿海的航路指南和预测沿海气象变化的歌谣。原书未分章节,为了注释方便,暂将原书内容分作航路指南和天气歌谣两部分。
