《甸雅》原书分上、中、下三卷，现仅存上、中两卷。作者居京二卡余年，热衷此道，见多识广，发为述论，一物一条，皆阅历有得之言。虽前后有个别重复，眉目也略欠清爽，翻检有所不便，但此书整体，看似杂陈无序，实则仍有部分，有层次，有分寸。更加以文字简练，偶涉世故，时复生动，宜于品赏阅览，揣摩把玩。故其为用，也自然方便。
