我国东南各省，与欧洲各国通商，自粤始。其奏许通洋舶，立十三行，便中外人贸易者，则在康熙中。其时，两广总督为吾乡吴留村兴祚。然吴督粤之先，有所谓石濂和尚者，已私与洋舶通贸易，则粤之通商，石濂实启之。石濂名大汕，本苏人，徐氏子。幼无行，为画师沈朗倩外嬖。沈以画名于时，石濂亦师其技，龚芝麓鼎孽一见大激赏之，弃沈而从龚，言者仍谓以色事也。后流转入粤，自称浪觉师，居粤西门外长寿院。不剃发，不诵经，室中亦不置钟、磬、瓶、钵之属，见者初不知其为僧。顾好大言，专结纳。又尝至安南，走交趾以祈雨，立验。眩其国人，多辇金助之，黄金巨万。
