在九华堂裕记见张善仔大千兄弟合作《虎图》四幅，大千补景者。善仔画虎，自是今之名手，然少韵致，亦由欠生动也。此四幅虎皆瘠，盖听经而不食生者欤？又有大千所画仕女一幅，衣褶有大病，面貌则非古非今，又体肥而短，举止之状亦不大方，似一闺婢耳。大千以画负当世盛名，然气韵不厚，模古有余，自创不足；骇俗有余，入雅不足。
