在昔孟子以亚圣之才。当七雄之世。崇王抑霸。行仁讲义。尝以君子平其政为谆谆。余读书至此。未尝不叹士之生也。处为大儒。出为名臣。大则平其政于天下。小则平其政于一邑。斯上不负乎。朝廷。下不误乎百姓。而臣子之职。庶几可告无罪焉。廼若身膺民社。尸位素餐。既不能就事为建白之筹。复不能独断为绸缪之计。碌碌无所短长。则亦甚负此简书矣。
