呜呼！吾民族蒙辫之耻，至于今已二百六十八年矣，习以为常，安之若素，几自忘固有之头颅，认胡尾为本来之面目矣。贤人杰士，严夷夏之分，抱种族之戚，宁尽去其，而不肯垂修修之尾以为汉族羞。世人论者，以为区区之，无与乎兴亡之故。呜呼！是不知夫之历史也。入关之初，令下，吾民族之不忍受辱而死者，不知凡几，幸而不死，或埋居土室，或遁迹深山，甚且削披缁，其百折不回之气，腕可折，头可断，肉可脔，身可碎，白刃可蹈，鼎镬可赴，而此星星之，必不可，其意岂在一哉？
