作者芙蓉外史，生平事迹不详。“……为之妻者，若越人视秦人之肥瘠，漠焉不加喜戚于其心，妒则否矣，抑何情不相关乃尔耶？予反其意，作《闺律》若干条，于锦衾角枕之旁，寓读法悬书之意，所以保全男子一片婆心。”《闺律》分为吏律七条、户律七条、礼律七条、兵律九条、刑律七条、工律四条，共41条。
