自序
梅，天下尤物，无问智贤愚不肖，莫敢有异议。学圃之士必先种梅，且不厌多。他花有无，多少，皆不繋重轻。余于石湖、玉雪坡既有梅数百本。比年又于舍南买王氏僦舍七十楹，尽拆除之，治为范村，以其地三分之一与梅。吴下栽梅特盛，其品不一，今始尽得之。随所得为之谱，以遗好事者。
