有一次，孔子让人引见从而见到了一位生活毫不节制而声名狼藉的王妃（南子，卫灵公夫人。有倾城之貌，但名声不好），孔子的学生——勇猛的仲由（子路），很是烦恼。随后孔子发誓说，“如果我在见她的时候，曾经动过卑劣的念头，就让上帝抛弃我吧，让上帝永远不要眷顾我！”
