古代哲学著作。北宋周敦颐著。用图式表达了古人对天地万物生长的理解和认识,即:无形无象的“无极”为原始、绝对的实体“太极”,由太极而化生出有象有形的二气五行和天地万物。南宋朱熹曾对该书进行注解和整理。明代编入《周濂溪集》,清代编入《周子全书》。亦称《太极图·易说》。全文250余字,有图有说。现流传下来的太极图式有三种,一是朱熹的《太极图说章句》本,一是《宋元学案》本,一是朱震所见太极图原图。太极图是根据宋初道士陈抟的《无极图》(一说《先天图》)改造而成的。陈抟的原图讲道教的修炼方法,周敦颐把它改变成论述宇宙本体化生万物过程的图式。通行本《太极图说》首句“无极而太极”,在宋代史馆所保存的《国史·周敦颐传》中原作“自无极而为太极”
