二卷。唐林慎思撰，林慎思字虔中，长乐人，咸通十年 (869)进士，十一年又中宏词拔萃魁，授秘书省校书郎、兴平尉，寻除尚书水部郎中、守万年县令。《崇文总目》及郑樵 《通志·艺文略》，皆载是书二卷，与今本合。《崇文总目》载慎思之言曰：“《孟子》七篇，非轲自著书，而弟子共记其言，不能尽轲意，因传其说演而续之。”今观其书十四篇。主要依据孟轲之言，推阐以尽其义。从不同篇章反复宣扬孟子的 “仁政”、“王道”，恢复井田制和世卿世禄制，遵先王之法等。不独自立论，类似庄、列的寓言。昔扬雄作 《太玄》以拟 《易》，王通作 《中说》 以拟 《论语》。故列入儒家。
