嘉靖甲申冬，我师甘泉先生既主南雍教事，?习振颓，率德约礼，一月而大纲陈，三月而众务举。于是开讲院以授及门之徒，辟观光馆以处四方来学之士。谆诲之余，首出《大科训规》，次出《知新明论》，次出《二礼训测》，次乃出《樵语》焉。盖先生教人，循循善诱，而《樵语》者，寔先生设教西樵时，门人所录也。先生之学，启乎江门，契乎濂洛，而上溯乎洙泗，纯粹中正，备见诸所著，是编则其精要尔。诸生因相与刊之，以广先生之教云。
