景公为大钟，将悬之。晏子、仲尼、柏常骞三人朝，俱曰：“钟将毁。”冲之，果毁。公召三子者而问之。晏子对曰：“钟大，不祀先君而以燕，非礼，是以曰钟将毁。”仲尼曰：“钟大而悬下，冲之其气下回而下薄，是以曰钟将毁。”柏常骞曰：“今庚申，雷日也，音莫胜于雷，是以曰钟将毁也。”此章与“景公为泰吕成将燕飨晏子谏”章旨同而尤近怪，故着于此篇。
