黄帝阴符经颂，原题「元阳子颂」，元阳子盖系唐代内丹派道士。《通志•艺文略》着录元阳子《颂阴符经》一卷，当即是书。今本收入《正统道藏》洞真部赞颂类。是书经文取三百字本，分作三章。作者于每句经文之后，以七言四句颂诗一首，其颂诗皆以修炼内丹之旨解释发挥经义。
