洞玄灵宝左玄论，撰人不详。从内容文字看，似为隋唐道士所作。敦煌道经P2390抄本及唐王悬河《三洞珠囊》卷七已引用此书。从《三洞珠囊》引文看，原书至少应有十三品。今《正统道藏》本仅残存其中第四、第五品，分为四卷，收人太平部。前二卷为第四品《正真无上上仙大道金刚见品》，叙修持「正真无上上仙大道」之法。谓此大道分大小二乘，大乘先修慈悲，后入空观，小乘先修空观，后修慈悲。大乘因大果大，乃上仙之道。小乘修持诸观法，包括有观、生观、死观、老观、两观、外观、理观、事观等等。后两卷为第五品《无上上三十六部经王品》，解释三洞三十六部道经旨义，其说亦涉及修持慈悲、空观。
