元始说功德法食往生经，撰人不详。似出于唐宋。一卷，收入《正统道藏》洞真部本文类。此经乃元始天尊演说，旨在超度地狱饿鬼及众生亡魂。据称天尊怜悯地狱饿鬼、畜生等遭受痛苦，不得超生，乃对大慈大悲真人宣说颂文二首、偈文一首。向饿鬼施舍法食。转诵经文，使各得解脱离苦，随愿往生。
