卷前有唐明皇序,实为《上方开化经》序。后序称,金时雍弟子刊印《上方开化经》、《演范经》、《真元经》和《大洞经》。本经大概是上述四经的摘录或残卷。经中又述及《玄都道藏经》，当指金或元《玄都宝藏》。故可知该经由时雍弟子刊于金或元。该经劝人积功称号，佩符诵经，清静无为。
