第十八章
（河上公注本作俗薄章，彭本作大道章）
【大道废，有仁义。智慧出，有大伪。六亲不和，有孝慈。国家昏乱，有忠臣。】
此章言治世隆污之道，然亦可悟治身之理。兹两举之，先无为之事，遂有慈惠之政，犹之失浑沦之体，遂有返还之功也。用明用术以察求，民情益深掩蔽，犹之用巧、用机以探取，药物愈善互藏也。在庭有孝慈，所以和六亲之不和，犹之入室修泰定，所以静六根之不静也。国家有忠臣，所以救昏乱，犹之玄门有真金，所以救衰惫也。然后叹上世浑穆之政，与上德无为之修，其风之邈也，久矣。
