第六十章
（河上公注本作居位章，彭本作烹鲜章）
【治大国，若烹小鲜。以道莅天下，其鬼不神。非其鬼不神，其神不伤人。非其神不伤人，圣人亦不伤人。夫两不相伤，故德交归焉。】
烹与割不同，割尚分析，烹尚调和。小鲜：小物也。视大国如小物，只在乎调和民情而已。鬼：魔也。神：灵也。不伤：不扰也。犹言以道立治，魔虽灵而不扰。非不扰人也，圣人以静治而不扰人，魔又何敢扰人哉？故魔与人两忘，而为圣德治伏也。交归：咸服也。
