白玉蟾，祖籍福建，生于琼州（今海南岛境）。字紫清，号海琼子、海山翁、琼山道人、武夷散人等。师事陈楠泥真人九年，始得其道。著述甚丰，有《海琼传道集》、《上清集》、《玉隆集》、《海琼白真人语录》等。此选的《吕祖〈指玄篇〉注》可见其内炼学说之一班。
