童子入学，塾师先授以《三字经》，欲其便诵也，识途也。学医之始，未定先授何书，如大海茫茫，错认半字罗经，便入牛鬼蛇神之域，余所以有《三字经》之刻也。前曾托名叶天士，取时俗所推崇者，以投时好。然书中之奥旨，悉本圣经，经明而专家之伎可废。谢退谷于注韩书室得缮本，惠书千余言，属归本名，幸有同志。今付梓而从其说，而仍名经而不以为僭者，采集经文，还之先圣，海内诸君子，可因此一字而共知所遵，且可因此一字而不病余之作。
