《秦献记》，发表在1914年3月出版的《雅言》杂志第六期。这篇文章论述了秦王朝对知识分子和学术文化的政策，也谈到了秦代学术文化的部分成就。作者赞扬了秦始皇的“焚书”，提出“不燔六艺，不足以尊新王”，矛头指向孔子的“法先王”，指向当时袁世凯之流妄图复辟帝制、尊儒反法的反动逆流。又指出“坑儒”只是对付卢生一类反动儒生的一时措施。他对秦始皇的“焚书坑儒”作了比较正确的评价。
