救亡决论

近代严复所撰政治伦理论文。发表于1895年天津《直报》。指出八股科举制度“锢智慧”、“坏心术”、“滋游手”三大危害,是亡国之道;极言“华风之敝,八字尽之;始于作伪,终于无耻”。强调道德的社会作用,称创行君主专制制度的“赢政、李斯千秋祸首”,“赢,李以小人而陵轹苍生,六经五子以君子而束缚天下”,后世帝王“崇尚我法,劫持天下,使天下必从己”,“因其劫持,遂生作伪;以其作伪,而是非淆,谦耻丧,天下之敝乃至不可复振”。他认为救亡之法,在于“痛除八股,而大讲西学”,只有“通知外国事”,“以西学为要图”,即向西方追求真理,进行变法,才能挽救中华民族。
