原题“燕客具草”,经考证实为明顾大武著,1卷,民国九年(1920)刊印,集在“借月山房汇钞”中。本书据著者“目击”,详述了明熹宗天启五年(1625)周朝瑞、袁化中、顾大章、魏大忠、杨涟、左光斗六君子因忤犯权奸颜珰而被诬以贪赃之罪、几经拷讯最终惨死诏狱之经过。书中于明代诏狱的组织系统、狱房结构、狱中饮食及医治、监狱管理及收受贿银等情况均有记载,尤其是对狱吏、狱卒秉承旨意、用刑惨毒及所用刑具的种类、规制的叙述,翔实而具体,为今天了解明代“六君子事件”的真相、了解宦官、厂卫干予司法的状况以及研究当时的诏狱和刑制,都提供了可贵的原始资料。
