本书（二册二六○面一五六、○○○字）不分卷，据江阴缪荃孙「续碑传集」及江都闵尔昌「碑传集补」选辑而成；因前有第二二○种「碑传选集」之辑，故名之以「续集」。按前辑所据钱仪吉纂「碑传集」讫清嘉庆朝止，缪集（宣统时纂）续自道光朝以至光绪末年；闵集（民初纂）既续晚出之文，并补道、咸以上所遗。本书所取碑传计有六十人，采文六十一篇。其中除有清中叶以下关系台湾人物以外，亦有南明遗逸之士，盖属闵集所收道、咸以上之人。体例一如前辑，不依类分，改按时代先后混一编次。惟少数南明人士，别以「补录」出之，载于书末。
