笔记。明顾起元(1565—1628)撰。十卷。起元字太初(一作璘初),江宁(今江苏南京)人。万历二十六年(1598)探花及第,授编修,官至吏部左侍郎,兼翰林院侍读学士,卒谥文庄。此编汇辑来客所语之往迹近闻而成此编,书因以名。该书主要是记述南京的故实及诸种杂事。他在序中说:“余顷年多愁多病,客之常在座者,熟余生平好访求桑梓间故事,则争语往迹近闻以相娱,”“既成帙,因命之曰《客座赘语》。赘之为言属也,又会也,属而会之,俾勿遗佚,余之于此义若有合焉。”由于顾起元与当时文人学士交往甚多,因而他对这些人的记述,对研究文学史甚有帮助。
