太祖初受周幼主命北讨，至陈桥为三军推戴，时太后以下眷属悉在定力院设斋，有司来搜捕，主僧令登阁而固其扃钥。俄大搜索，僧绐云：“皆散走，不知所之矣。”甲士入寺，升梯且开钥，见蛛网布满其上，而尘埃凝积若累年不曾开者。乃相告曰：“是安得有人。”遂皆去，有顷，太祖已践祚矣。
