八月，后赵王勒使石虎率兵四万攻赵。虎军至蒲坂，赵王曜闻知，自为将，领十万余人来迎，石虎大惧而退。曜催军追及，与虎交战，又大破之，斩其将石瞻，横尸二百余里。虎奔朝歌。曜以众回攻石生于金蒲，石生坚闭固守，不出与战，使人回国取兵来救。使人去了。曜见石生不出，计令诸将决千金岖，引水而灌之，于是荥阳、野王诸城皆降，襄国大震。
