宋代文言传奇小说。二卷。宋初乐史撰。有《说郛》本、《唐人说荟》本等,以鲁迅撰《唐宋传奇集》本为通行。作品虽名叫“外传”,实际还是摭拾史实加上传说综合而成,摭采《明皇杂录》、《开天传信记》、《安禄山事迹》、《酉阳杂俎》、《长恨歌传》等书,稍加排比润饰而成,近五千字。有关唐明皇与杨贵妃情事,略备一书。内容以杨妃故事为中心,穿插安禄山乱事,杨国忠被杀于马嵬驿等情节。其材料多出稗史,篇末并附有议论。全书结构较松散,但文字尚简练。对贵族豪门的荒淫腐朽。统治集团内部矛盾的揭露,较之相同内容作品有所增强。
