一卷。南宋元敬(生卒年不详)、元复(生卒年不详)撰。二僧学佛念祖,住寺杭州。因地兴佛,撰述一地高僧以垂后世。二僧根据传说:即西湖玛瑙宝胜寺在南宋绍定六年(1233)创建一高僧阁,内奉杭州各寺居住的历代高僧30人之说,又依据梁、唐、宋《高僧传》、《五灯会元》以及《释门正统》和杭州碑志所载内容,加以择录,编辑成书。《武林西湖高僧事略》一书,首开一地历代高僧编成一书的体例。对研究杭州一地自晋、南齐、隋、唐、五代、至宋代住寺高僧及其地区佛教史具有一定借鉴意义和史料价值。该书初版刊印于南宋,现已亡佚。现仅见《四库全书》作目并有提要介绍 《中国大百科全书》(宗教卷)在“中国佛教传记”中的类传部分作有简要介绍和其它零星记载。
