全一卷。北宋法天译。收于大正藏第二十四册。内容叙述佛陀于王舍城竹林精舍回答目连所问，关于众生迷醉无惭愧，犯戒律应堕地狱之年数；罪分六项：行非法行、不依说法、行波逸提、犯吐罗钵底、犯僧伽婆尸沙法、犯波罗夷法。本经乃后汉安世高所译之犯罪戒报轻重经之异译本。二者之异，在于犯罪戒报轻重经无偈文，且无六项罪报之问辞。另据出三藏记卷四、法经录卷三等载，本经另有一同本异译本，亦称目连所问经，译者佚名，今已不存。
