全一卷。唐代义净译。收于大正藏第四册。本经系佛陀于舍卫城为胜光王（波斯匿王）所说之譬喻。谓往昔有一人，于旷野为恶象所逐，乃依树根而入空井中，以避恶象。时有黑白二鼠互啮树根，井四边有毒蛇，井底复有毒龙。其人心畏龙、蛇，又恐树根断折。此时有蜂蜜五滴由树根坠其口中，又蜂亦来螫其人，更有野火烧井边之树。其中，旷野比喻无明，人比喻异生（凡夫），象比喻无常，空井比喻生死，树根比喻生命，二鼠比喻昼夜，啮树根比喻念念灭，四毒蛇比喻四大，蜜比喻五欲，蜂比喻邪思，火比喻老病，毒龙比喻死；以说明生老病死之可怖可畏，应离五欲，以求解脱。
