孔子说：“夸夸其谈、装腔作势、故弄玄虚，这些都是我的一个朋友（即左丘明，相传为《左传》的作者）不屑一顾的事情，我对这样的事情也感觉羞耻；将自己对他人的怨恨掩藏起来，却去和他做朋友，这也是我那个朋友所厌恶的事情，我也对这样的事情嗤之以鼻。”
